FOR THE RECORED: I live 150 meters from the telephone exchange, so im VERY CLOSE. My phone line is as good as a telecom phone line gets! Xtra broadband SUCKS! We NZers are being tricked by telecom, the company which is currently under attack by the commerce commission; whos trying to break the ice. The problem is, telecom has no real competition, so they can charge what they like and we have no choice. We just gotta go along with it. The Govt is trying to change that, cos it really is stupid for us to pay $40/month for 4 or 5 times dial up speed, and telecom calls that MAXIMUM SPEED!!! W.T.F!? Obviously telecom is full of shit, they recon that a download speed of 200kbps is a brilliant connection, and that theres no getting faster. Just look at the chart above, its what they say! Im afrade telecom has a bad case of verbal dihoreah, they really speak torrents of runny shit! It's only a matter of time before we dont have to pay for a phone line ($40 maintainance fee) just so that we can have an internet connection which is another $40. So effectivly, if you just want internet and no phone (which many people are doing) YOU CANT! telecom still wants $80 from you, the greed!  Vodafone 3G Broadband is okay...  The speeds measured here utterly and totally kick Telecoms ADSL service to hell, THIS is real broadband. Its the same price for the same plan, but you dont have to pay that pesky "line rental". I use vodafone simply because I have no need for a landline as ihave a cell, and im not going to pay $50 for 1GB worth of 4x dialup speed plus $40 line rental. Thats $90 just for slow internet! So i go with Vodafone, pay $50 per month and get kick-ass broadband speed. IN YOUR FACE Telecom! |
